THE REPUBLIC OF MINISTRY OF HEALTH THE QUADRANGLE BANJUL THE GAMBIA 30th July 2025 Mpox Situation Update The Ministry of Health wishes to inform the public of the latest developments regarding the ongoing Mpox outbreak in The Gambia. This update follows the third official national situational report issued since the confirmation of the first case on 18th July 2025. As of 29th July 2025, a cumulative total of 75 suspected Mpox cases have been recorded across seven health regions. Encouragingly, no deaths have been reported. One confirmed case remains in isolation and is responding well to treatment. The Ministry, through its National Public Health Emergency Operations Centre (PHEOC), has activated Level 2 emergency response and is coordinating daily response efforts, including: • . Implementation of a national Mpox response plan Enhanced disease surveillance and contact tracing Designation of isolation units in health facilities Risk communication and community engagements Daily radio and TV programs to strengthen public awareness on Mpox Cross-border collaboration, especially with neighbouring Senegal Preparations for potential Mpox vaccine deployment Efforts have also been intensified to train healthcare and community health workers in surveillance, case management, and infection prevention and control. Therefore, the public is reminded to remain vigilant, report any suspected cases, and adhere to public health guidelines. The Ministry of Health assures the public of its continued commitment to controlling the outbreak and urges all citizens to refrain from stigma and support those affected with compassion and care.
